Caring for Your Keepsake
Your keepsake has been individually handcrafted to hold something deeply meaningful. With gentle care, it can remain a beautiful reminder of the people, pets and moments you hold close.
Caring for Your Keepsake
Keepsake stones are created using high-quality jewellery-grade resin selected for its clarity, durability and resistance to yellowing. Like pearls and opals, resin is best treated as a delicate material.
To protect your jewellery:
- Remove it before showering, bathing or swimming
- Avoid perfumes, lotions, hairspray and cleaning products
- Keep it away from hand sanitiser and harsh chemicals
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat
- Remove it during exercise, gardening, cleaning or manual work
- Protect it from knocks, scratches and abrasive surfaces
- Put your jewellery on last and remove it first
Is Keepsake Jewellery Waterproof?
Your keepsake stone is waterproof; however, repeated or prolonged exposure to water may affect the jewellery setting, plating or adhesives over time.
We recommend removing your jewellery before showering, swimming or washing dishes. Saltwater, chlorine, soaps and cleaning products can dull the finish and cause premature wear.
Will the Stone Turn Yellow?
Our keepsake stones are made using jewellery-grade resin chosen for its clarity and resistance to yellowing. However, all resin jewellery should be protected from prolonged ultraviolet exposure, excessive heat and harsh chemicals.
When it is not being worn, store your keepsake away from direct sunlight in its original box or a soft jewellery pouch.
Cleaning Your Jewellery
Gently wipe your jewellery with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth after wearing it.
If further cleaning is required:
- Lightly dampen a soft cloth with lukewarm water.
- Carefully wipe the metal and keepsake stone.
- Dry the jewellery immediately with a separate soft cloth.
Do not soak your jewellery or use abrasive cleaners, jewellery dips, ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners or polishing compounds on the keepsake stone.
Sterling Silver Care
Sterling silver may naturally tarnish when exposed to air, moisture, cosmetics and chemicals. This is normal and can usually be removed with a silver polishing cloth.
A polishing cloth is included with your keepsake. Gently polish the silver setting while avoiding excessive rubbing over the stone.
Caring for Plated Jewellery
White, yellow and rose gold-plated finishes require additional care. Plating naturally wears over time, particularly on rings and areas exposed to frequent contact.
To extend the life of the finish:
- Minimise contact with water, perspiration and cosmetics
- Avoid rubbing or polishing plated surfaces
- Do not use a silver polishing cloth on plated jewellery
- Store each piece separately to prevent scratching
The gradual wearing of plating is considered normal rather than a manufacturing fault. Please note that we are unable to offer a replating service.
Ring Sizing and Adjustable Rings
Our finished rings cannot be resized, so please carefully check your ring size before ordering.
Selected designs are available with adjustable bands. These should be adjusted gently and only when necessary. Repeated bending or excessive force may weaken or damage the band.
Storing Your Keepsake
Store your jewellery clean and dry in its original box or a soft pouch. Keep pieces separate so they do not scratch or become tangled.
Avoid storing jewellery in direct sunlight, humid bathrooms or areas exposed to extreme changes in temperature.
Rings Need Extra Care
Rings experience more contact and wear than other jewellery. Remove your ring before sleeping, exercising, cleaning, gardening, preparing food or completing tasks that may place pressure on the setting.
Your keepsake stone measures approximately 4.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, similar to pearls and opals, so it can be scratched by harder materials.
Inspected Before Shipping
Every completed keepsake is carefully inspected and photographed before it leaves our studio. This allows us to confirm its condition and document the finished jewellery before it is securely packaged and shipped to you.
Damage and Care Support
If your jewellery becomes damaged, please stop wearing it and contact us. Include your order number and clear photographs so we can assess the piece and advise whether assistance may be available.
We are unable to resize rings or replate jewellery. Please do not attempt to repair, polish, sand or recoat the keepsake stone yourself.
