The Heart Behind Memories of You

Reading time: 4 minutes

Memories of You was created from a simple belief: the moments, people and little lives we love deserve to be held close.

I’m Kylie — a mother, a maker, and the person behind every keepsake stone created here at Memories of You. I understand that a keepsake is rarely “just jewellery”. It can carry the memory of a season that changed you, the love of someone you miss, or a connection you never want to let go of.

My own path into this work has been shaped by many of the experiences my customers bring to me.

I am mum to one beautiful boy, now 11. My pregnancy was difficult, with pelvic instability that made an already life-changing time feel especially challenging. My breastfeeding journey was more difficult again. My son could not latch, and we later learned there were medical reasons feeding had been so challenging, but at the time I felt like a failure. I pumped day and night, determined to give him what I could, but my supply was low and my milk dried up at seven weeks.

At the time, I did not know keepsake jewellery existed. I wish I had. Even though our breastfeeding journey was short and far from what I had imagined, it was still ours. It was full of love, effort, exhaustion and devotion — and it deserved to be remembered.

I have known the deep love and loss that comes with the privilege of having pets. Over the years, I have loved and said goodbye to cats, dogs, horses and many other loving creatures. Each one held their own place in my heart, and each loss left its own quiet space behind.

Like many people, I have also experienced the loss of loved ones, and the uncertainty and heartache that can come with fertility struggles. These experiences have taught me that grief and love do not always look the same from one person to the next. Sometimes the things that matter most are the things others may not immediately see or understand.

I cannot go back and create keepsakes for my own earlier moments of love and loss. But I can create them for others.

That is the privilege at the heart of Memories of You. Whether I am preserving breastmilk, cremation ashes, a lock of hair, pet fur, dried flowers or another treasured inclusion, I approach every piece with care, respect and the understanding that what has been entrusted to me is precious.

My hope is that each finished piece offers comfort — in whatever form its wearer needs. A reminder of strength. A connection to someone loved. A way to honour a life, a bond, a chapter, or a memory that deserves to be carried forward.

If a keepsake created by my hands can bring even a small sense of comfort, closeness or peace, I feel deeply fulfilled and honoured.

With love,

Kylie
